Noor Khamis is a former Reuters Photograper/Editor, covering the wider East, Central and Horn of Africa Region where he worked for close to ten years, before then, he was in a staff position at the United Nations headquarters in Gigiri with (IRIN) in the position of an editor. He also worked in the same positions at the Standard Newspaper and the People Daily.
Noor has won several top awards during his long career stretching close to 30 years. On one occasion one of his provoking images from a swearing in ceremony at State House Nairobi in 2006 resulted him barred from covering any Presidential function at the State venue for over three years.
His long career has seen him at the center of breaking news events, like the Westgate Mall attack, the Garisa University attack, US embassy bombing and the violence that visited the aftermath of the 2007 disputed Presidential Elections, just to mention but a few.
